Easter egg nails

I wanted to make some pretty Easter egg nails in pink and green. I'd planned on a sheer layer of mint glitter over pale pink which would give me green glitter over a slightly green tinted pink background.  Does that make sense?  It looked good on my test nail wheel and reminded me of Easter eggs hiding in the grass.  Of course nothing goes to plan and I had application issues.
I started with a pale pink creme then layered Lynnderella Attitude Adjust-mint and used a dotting tool to add green and pink dots and a few extra pieces of glitter picked from Attitude Adjust-mint.

The pink I used was just the perfect shade of pale in 1 coat but it was horrid to apply.  It dragged and streaked and I had to keep adding thinner.  It was drying mid stroke like a thick shatter polish!  So one coat looked horrid.  I ended up doing 3 coats to try and hide the streaks but by then it was thick, bubbling and a darker shade of pink than I wanted.

I'd planned on just one coat of Attitude Adjust-mint but it's quite a milky polish. It's sheer enough that it needs layering but the milkiness means it doesn't layer well over darker colours so now that my pink was 3 layers dark it was too dark to play nice with the mint and my milky minty layer looked all streaky. Which meant I had to do 2 coats of the mint, losing the sheer with green glitter over pink look I wanted.

I still have mint and pink but the overall impression is more of creamy milkyness and the green glitter is mostly hidden.  I pulled out some more bottles of pink and green and used my dotting too to decorate my 'eggs' and I used the same tool to pick some pieces of glitter from the Lynnderella to place on top.  All sealed with a thick coat of Essie Good to Go.

With each layer I came very close to giving up and taking it all off.  Only the fact that my middle nail is broken (below skin level) and held together with layers of base coat and paper threads stopped me from breaking out the acetone.  It is such a pain to have to repair my nail each time I redo my polish.  So I kept going and in the end I was happy with the finished look but it is all quite thick and not the simple dainty look I was after.  It wont be staying on long.  I can't stand the thickness of all these layers and I'm planning on wearing blue tomorrow for World Autism Awareness Day (April 2).  Hopefully I'll get some blue nail mail tomorrow :)

The base pink I used is a Diffi polish without a name or number.  I got it with a bunch of second hand polishes so I don't know if it might have been OK when new but it's a nightmare to apply now.  Such a shame because it's such a pretty pink and I don't have many pinks, especially pale colours.
I used my precious Lynnderella Attitude Adjust-mint for the green layer and for the dots I used Sally Hansen Blush Diamond, Ulta3 Jade and China Glaze Re-fresh Mint.  Re-fresh Mint is actually a pretty prefect underwear match for Attitude Adjust-mint.
Can anyone recommend a nice pale pink creme?  Preferably available in Australia and a one or two coater please.  The next closest pink I have is Essie Lion Around but it was too dark for this.
