World Prematurity Day

November 17 has been World Prematurity Day.  A day to raise awareness of premature birth with a wave of purple around the world.  People have been wearing purple and public buildings have been lit up in purple with the theme of #LightItUpPurple   Have a look at the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/WorldPrematurityDay for some great photos of the participants, well lit buildings and some inspiring stories.  Prematurity is the leading cause of infant death.  Both my boys were premature.  Alex was born at 26wks and Ben was born at 35wks.   There's a lot of medical and emotional stress that comes with a premature birth and we had our fair share of it but both boys are now happy and healthy.
So here's how I wore purple with some nail art to light it up purple.
I started with a gradient of purples from Bella Belle Nail Couture.  The darker purple is Night Before Christmas from An Aussie Christmas collection it's a purple jelly with micro gold glitter.  The lighter purple is Lavender Fields,
a purple creme, from the In Full Bloom collection.  I wish I'd remembered to take a photo of just the gradient.  These two purples are quite different but they looked great together.
Then I layered the gradient with a coat of Bella Belle Radio Active Woman which is a clear top coat that glows in the dark with an amazing purple colour.  Unfortunately it didn't show up purple in my photos but trust me it is purple, not blue.
The glow is so intense the bottle was lighting things up.  Sorry for the blurry shot but it's hard to hold still for a long exposure.  I love Radio Active Woman, I just want to try it over everything now.  Because it's clear it doesn't effect the polish underneath and just adds that special effect at night.
I stamped a skyline using Ulta3 Black Satin and some accent nail fireworks using Color Club Eternal Beauty.   It's supposed to look like the sky is lit up in purple and with the help of Radio Active Woman it does light up.  Special thanks to the wonderful Tara from Loki's Lacquer, I can now stamp!  I was holding my scrapper (licence, credit card etc) wrong and pressing too hard which was removing too much polish so the squishy stamper wouldn't pick up anything.  Tara showed me how to swish my credit card across the plate and let it flex.  Amazing the difference! Swish and stamp and swish and stamp and swish and stamp :)
